Gaza, November 4, 2025 – PalPlus News
Israeli authorities continue to manipulate the food supply in Gaza, intensifying the humanitarian crisis by flooding markets with high-calorie, low-nutrition processed foods. Fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, meat, dairy, and eggs remain scarce, worsening hunger and malnutrition.
Dr. Ismail Al-Thawabta, Director of Gaza’s Government Media Office, told QNN that the items allowed into Gaza are mainly processed snacks, coffee, soft drinks, and chocolates, offering little nutritional value. “These foods do not improve public health. Instead, they deepen chronic malnutrition and affect children, women, and the elderly the most,” he explained.
The policy, Dr. Al-Thawabta noted, amounts to systematic starvation, using food as a political and humanitarian pressure tool—an approach that violates international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.
Aid Truck Restrictions
Between October 10 and 31, only 3,203 trucks entered Gaza, including 2,564 aid trucks and 639 commercial trucks—just 24% of the 600 trucks per day required under the ceasefire agreement.
Critical supplies like fuel, medical equipment, and construction materials remain heavily restricted: only 115 fuel trucks entered, just 10% of the needed 1,100, and only four trucks carried medical supplies.
Dr. Al-Thawabta emphasized: “The market may appear active, but the blockade continues to suffocate civilians while life-saving goods are blocked or delayed.”
The Integrated Food Phase Classification (IPC) has declared Gaza under an Israeli-engineered famine, with 447 deaths from malnutrition recorded by the end of last month, including 147 children.
